Pallada called at Ushuaia
On February 11, the Russian sailing ship Pallada made a call at the Argentine port of Ushuaia.
The word Ushuaia comes from the Yaghan language: ush and waia ("bay" or "cove") and means "deep bay" or "bay to background". The city is located on the shore of a Bay surrounded by a chain of high mountains which protects it from the prevailing winds. The mountains are picturesquely reflected in the cold water of the Bay. On February 12 and 13, Pallada will open the board to local residents and foreign tourists. The crew is well-prepared for the Open Board Days. Guests can have a tour of the vessel, get acquainted with the exhibitions on ship's deck and talk to the crew and cadets. Dmitry Feoktistov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Argentina, is also expected on board.
