Pallada is preparing to be the first to start the circumnavigation

Deputy Head of Rosrybolovstvo Petr Savchuk has visited the training sailing vessel Pallada as part of his working trip to Vladivostok. The frigate is thoroughly preparing for the upcoming round-the-world expedition of Rosrybolovstvo dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian sailors and the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
She will be the first of the three sailing vessels to put to sea. The others (the Sedov and the Kruzenshtern) will start a joint expedition in early December. All three vessels will meet in the Southernmost part of the Atlantic, near the South Georgia Islands for joint manoeuvring and participation in the 200-mile regatta.

The Master of the Pallada Nikolay Zorchenko has reported on the progress of repair works: everything is going in complete accordance with a plan. A professional crew has already been recruited, the passage plan has been elaborated.

During the visit, the performance of the satellite system "Gonets" was tested. it had been installed to provide constant communication with the ship during the circumnavigation.

Peter Savchuk made a round of the ship, talked to the crew and wished good luck at the departure. "You are having an important mission – to remind the world about great geographical discoveries and the role of our country in the course of history. Such events as victory over fascism should never be forgotten," - said Petr Savchuk.

Pallada is going to sail 27 thousand nautical miles during the expedition. Mst Nikolai Zorchenko has several world expeditions under his belt.
