Art exhibition on the Sedov
On December 24, 2019, there was an opening day of the exhibition "P. N. Mikhailov. Journey to the South pole."
The exhibition was organized by the Museum of World Ocean in cooperation with the State Russian Museum and supported by USC (United Shipbuilding Corporation). The exhibition includes of 45 reproductions of drawings and watercolors by Pavel Nikolaevich Mikhailov and a biographical film about the artist. In 1819-1821, Pavel Mikhailov took part in the famous expedition of F. F. Bellingshausen and M. Lazarev. The artist made sketches of discovered islands, views of cities and settlements, drew portraits of aborigines, carefully depicted samples of exotic flora and fauna. The works of Pavel Nikolaevich served as a documentary proof of the priority of Russian researchers in the discovery of Antarctica.
Cadet Artem Chepel and reporter of the Russian magazine "Ogonyok" Alexander Trushin performed a piece of music for violin and piano, which immediately created a special mood in the assembly hall.
Virtual Mikhailov's art exhibition will also be presented on the barque Kruzenshtern and the frigate Pallada.
