The Kruzenshtern called at the German port of Warnemünde

This morning (August 8), the training sailing ship Kruzenshtern called at the port of Warnemünde (Germany). Currently there is a festival of sails "Hanse Sail" which the barque regularly participates.
There were several tall ships moored at the port along with our Kruzenshtern, including the Mir (Russia), the Cuauhtemoc (Mexico), the Gloria (Colombia), the Americo Vespucci (Italy), as well as a large number of small yachts.

Warnemünde is the only foreign port of call in the third voyage of our 2019 navigational season. Our cadets have an opportunity to go ashore and get to the nearest city – Rostock. However, a "landing card" is given only to the ones who have no issue with housekeeping duties, order and discipline.

The day before, on 7th August, there was a bath day on board. Shortly after working aloft the cadets had to line and have their blankets with them. The guys in pairs were shaking the blankets out. Also, the heads of the sea practice checked the sanitary condition of cadets' quarters. This mandatory procedure is carried out before every port call. After lunch the Board made up of an Academic Operations Officer and a Medical Assistant assessed the clean-up efforts of the guys. The cadets were inspection-ready: they wiped the dust off, polished up all metal elements of their quarters, made the washbasins gleam with perfection and thoroughly stored their clothes. The sanitary condition of all the quarters was highly praised.

The training sailing vessel Kruzenshtern will leave the port of Warnemünde on August 12. The "Hanse Sail" festival is going to be marked with a parade of crews in Warnemünde and in conclusion - with a traditional parade of sails. The Kruzenshtern for sure will be heading the bill as the largest participant.
