Kaliningrad start of the circumnavigation

The solemn ceremony of the Kruzenshtern and Sedov departure to the circumnavigation of the world will take place in the Kaliningrad Sea Fishing port on December 7 at 10 o'clock.
It is the first time in the history of Russia when the training sailing fleet of Rosrybolovstvo is making a joint circumnavigation of the world. The 30-year-old frigate Pallada (Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University) put to sea on November 1, 2019 from Vladivostok. On December 1, the frigate crossed the 180th Meridian and entered the Western hemisphere.

The Sedov and Kruzenshtern which are in the management of Kaliningrad State Technical University are putting to sea on December 7. Both vessels have turned 90, but they are perfectly prepared for the long expedition.

The round-the-world expedition of 2019-2020 covers more than forty ports in North and South America, Africa, Europe, Oceania, some of them will be called by our vessels for the first time. Manoeuvrings of all three sailing vessels in the closest to the Antarctic point of the Atlantic - off South Georgian islands' coast is going to be a culmination of the expedition. An impressive sight is also guaranteed during a memorial race. The total route mileage of three vessels in this circumnavigation will exceed 100 thousand nautical miles. The round-the-world expedition of the Rosrybolovstvo sailing fleet are shared by the ones who support the ideas of peace, kindness and cooperation, environment protection, those who respect the international Maritime society and contribute to its development and prosperity.

During the round-the-world expedition, the cadets will have to go through stormy seas and oceans, feel the fury of the "roaring forties", follow the footsteps of famous seafarers who rounded Cape Horn. The sea will challenge the scientists, journalists, workers of culture and people of art from Russia and other countries. Each of them can paint their shipboard impressions, make a work of art, photo or video. The dwellers and guests of our region have a great opportunity to witness the departure ceremony and to say parting words to the crew and BSA and KMC cadets. The guests of the ceremony will see the memorable artefacts which are going to be presented to the vessels by public, educational, scientific organizations. These presents will remind the guys on board of their Motherland.

On this cold December day each of you can say the words of warm approval, respect, and appreciation to participants of the project. This will be a great impetus for the crew and cadets.
