Pallada is overcoming pitching and rolling
The ship is sailing in the roaring forties to Drake Strait, the doors of the starboard side have been battened down and the storm rails have been stretched.
It is not easy to live normal life on board when the ship is experiencing pitching and rolling. Nevertheless, in the morning of February 4, the ship had all hands on deck training. The ship is proceeding at the speed of 8 knots — the engine is helped by nine fore-and-aft sails. Depth under ship's keel is 2.5 kilometers while over head is limitless sky, blazing sun and mallemucks.
The Pallada is heading steadily for Cape Horn. Despite severe weather ship's routine never stops. Classes, practice, ship work, watches go on.
Soon the Kruzenshtern, Sedov and Pallada will meet in the Southernmost part of the Atlantic, near the South Georgia Islands for joint manoeuvring and participation in the 200-mile regatta.
