STS Pallada: daily grind

The Pallada is crossing the South Atlantic at an average speed of 10-12 knots. There are 8 days left untill calling at South African port of Cape Town.
Most of the time the ship proceeds under the sail, this is a kind of record for this very route.

The weather in the Atlantic is very changeable. An old proverb says: "Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors", so it is safe to say that the crew members and cadets will become even more courageous and endurant after this trip.

"She was proceeding under sail for the whole night. There was North-West wind up to 25 m / s. Wave height was up to 5 meters. In the morning, the wind failed, so we added some sails and followed the route at a speed of 7 knots. We started the engine, and keep on sailing under sail and power. Everything is going well here," says Mst Nikolay Zorchenko.
